Well, it's been a bit since I wrote a blog post on my site here, but anyways, here's one! January started off rough, I haven't gotten around to getting some good pictures of my new car yet, but late December 2024, I got a new used car, a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, 6 speed manual, base model, with 131,000KM on it. Great car, anywho, I went in a week later to get a battery mount installed, and on my way out just fucking wiped the hell out on the wet floor in their service area, no wet floor sign not like that would have saved me, and no I didn't complain or sue like so many people have told me, I got a decent deal on the car, fuck it, oh well. That was gee, looking at the date now, a month ago as of tomorrow, 4 weeks. Been taking forever to heal. The last time I got hurt bad was when I was 16 or so, hoverboarding (still have the hoverboard!) in highschool, or a parking lot I forget, anyways, one of the two, and just wiped out bad and fractured my shoulder or something like that. I was in a sling for a while. Oddly, I've never broken or sprained or fractured the left side of my body, only the right. So, it's been about 10 years since I got injured. Google told me 4-6 weeks expected recovery time, and I think 6 weeks is what it's looking like. So to start, yes, I should have seen a doctor. Haha, I didn't. I went with my mom to my family doctor who said they couldn't help and they were booked straight for 2 months. I went to the walk-in clinic they recommended that took no appointments, so I thought "Oh, must not be that busy then!", when my mom and I got to the walk-in clinic, it was lined up, out the door, multiple hour long wait. Told her nah, screw that. We went and bought a brace for my wrist at a local store, I didn't sleep at all for 2 days and have been sleeping shit since, but day-by-day I'm seeing small, but noticeable improvements, so I figure it's healing good. Yes, Canada has free health care, but it sucks and it's slow. Based off the pain and what I remember from many many years ago injuring myself, this seems more like a bad sprain or I obliterated the muscles or tendons. still a light outline of bruising a month later, but nothiung like the photo I'll post under this anymore thankfully. Shockingly, despite my mother being traumatized of letting anyone else drive her vehicles, since she got in a car accident back in the 1970s in her dads car, she allowed me to drive both her older car and new car she just got, since I couldn't drive my manual car up until about a week ago. Big trust there, thanks mom!
Other than that wrist stuff, just kinda' rambling here about my life, because this is my website blog this is what it's for, new car is nice, I like it, I'll post it on the cars tab at some point soon, just been delaying that because of the wrist. I cashed out 124 hours of vacation at work which was nice, I needed that money to pay for the TR7, but holy hell, I was taxed like $1,650.00 federal income tax and $1000 in pension contributions, that sucked, but still got some money out of it at least. I don't really need to take vacation much, rather just drive around after work or on weekends, if I travel I can work remotely, but not travelling for a while and need to pay down some debt right now, since I've kind of gone crazy getting 6 crazy and keeping them all on the road (or at least trying to) and I refuse to sell any of them, haha.
I also have gotten into Magic The Gathering, I have 38 commander pre-constructed decks right now, and I opened a box of Modern Horizon 3 Play boosters, playing some Magic with the boys every now and then. Would be fun to get into more, but don't really want to play with random people yet. Will get into random LGS magic at some point, but again, just not right now, I decided.
Getting sick of winter, just kind of want my fun cars back, my new Subaru handles the snow great, but still, I think we all prefer no snow than a bunch of snow. Especially with how much they salt the roads. Well, I guess that wraps up my ranting for now. Felt like I should do a blog update for a while now, not like folks expect these daily though so no one was really missing out, but I wonder, will anyone be judging these decades from now, looking at the random gaps between posts, etc? Not like I expect many or anyone to read these, but making these blogs leaves a thought of how the future will reflect back. Anywho folks, that was random, and ranty. What else is going on...? Hmm, well I miss the gym since I can't go cause' of the wrist, might go treadmill next week but we'll see, still kinda fucked wrist. Alrightie, here's a photo of my wrist in early January, taa!
